Homicide Desk Case #001 The Overtime
Eastdock setup, sealed strongbox, and why this wiki will never name the charge.
Case #001 The Overtime is the first homicide Shu’la Lab LLC lets you open after field certification. This page describes the setup. It will not name who killed Marcus Reeves. Launch cases ship with multiple guilty-party variants. Reopen a solved file and the truth can change. A comment that names a warrant is one run, not the run. If you want a charge checklist, use charging and how to solve a case. If you have not closed the pawnshop, stop and finish the training case first.
What the file actually says
Victim: Marcus Reeves, 41, Principal Engineer at Vanta Systems headquarters in Eastdock. Found in Server Room B at 21:47 on 17 March 2024. Single blow to the head. No forced entry. Sister Dana Reeves enters the file. A voicemail talks about invoices and proof in his box. The strongbox stays sealed until you earn the open. This wiki will not list that earn condition as a spoiler. The pattern is the same as every other lock on the desk: a lab result, a cipher, or a present in the booth that makes someone give you a code.
Open Case Files. Nested reports, statements, photos, receipts, voicemail. The Forensics Lab is not an Analyze button. Align prints. Calibrate the chromatograph against the clock. UV the scene photos from a desktop right-click. Flag calls on the phone record and check them against the taskbar clock and City Atlas districts. Eastdock is geography, not a waypoint. You never walk Server Room B in 3D.
Pin people, places, and objects on the Investigation Board. String connections keep a theory honest. When you interrogate, type the question and slide a document. The local model phrases the reply; the facts stay handwritten. Push on nothing and they lawyer up. Offer a Break or Request Dossier if you have salary. Presenting the still-sealed strongbox is pushing with nothing.
Write the deduction the game asks for before Arrest Warrant. A wrong charge opens Internal Affairs. Flawless Record does not survive a guess. Case Closer wants the file closed correctly, not quickly. Swift Justice is a trap if you skip the box.
Variants, Dana Reeves, and what not to assume
Dana Reeves is the victim’s sister. Dana Brook was the pawnshop assistant. They are not the same person. Do not import a training interview into this booth. Colleagues at Vanta, building access, overtime culture, and the voicemail about invoices are all in-world texture. None of them is a highlighted killer.
Because variants exist, a successful warrant on save A can be the wrong body on save B. Steam discussions will spoil one timeline. Treat those posts as someone else’s run. This wiki’s spoiler fence is the same on every language of this page: victim, scene, tools, no charge.
Cases 002 and 003 also ship at launch. They use the same desk apps. Shu’la Lab has promised more files, tools, and precinct apps without dates. When a named case appears in Steam news, it gets its own heading. Until then, do not hunt a leak for Case #002 on this URL.
Email will apply pressure. Morrison and the political clock are not permission to skip UV. Gazette will print city copy. City Atlas will let you dispatch a unit such as U-19 Code 3 through Eastdock. Dispatch will not outline the guilty party. Personnel File is jackets, not a chromatograph.
How to work the overtime file without a spoiler dump
- Confirm Certification on The Pawnshop Key.
- Read the whole nested tree once before you sit anyone down.
- Lab every object in hand. Break ciphers yourself if you want Master Cryptographer rather than buying Request Dossier.
- Pin the board. If a string needs a document you have not unsealed, that is your next job, not a warrant.
- Interrogate with presents. Two-line questions. Watch AGITATED. Pay for a break only if the meter demands it.
- Unseal the strongbox through work, not through a guide that names the code.
- Write a deduction you could read to Internal Affairs.
- File only then. Process: charging.
Keep the interrogation planner open on a second monitor if RAM allows. Recommended is 8 GB because the model is local. Hardware stalls belong on system requirements and the local model page, not on this case file.
Settings and the ten-language pass (1.3.8) can change UI text on the warrant line. Update before you file in French, German, or Spanish. Details: settings. Achievements that care about a clean homicide sit on achievements. Official channels: links.
The overtime file is the job. The wiki’s job is to keep the variant honest. Work the desk. Do not crowdsource a name.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for detectives still on the clock.
Who killed Marcus Reeves?
This wiki will not say. Case #001 has multiple guilty-party variants. Reopen a solved file and the truth can change.
Is Dana Reeves the same person as Dana Brook?
No. Dana Brook is the pawnshop assistant in Case #000. Dana Reeves is the victim's sister in The Overtime.
How do I open the strongbox?
Earn it: lab work, a cipher, or a booth present that yields a code. This page will not print that code. Pattern notes are in forensics.
What happens if I charge the wrong person?
Internal Affairs opens a file on you. Read charging before you touch Arrest Warrant.
Are cases 002 and 003 spoiled here?
No. They ship at launch and use the same apps. This page is only the Case #001 setup. Process for every file: how to solve a case.
Should I read Steam comments for the killer?
Not if you care about variants. One player's warrant is one timeline. Work your board.
